Sults in Syria in the twenty century

The geography of Syria today: Islam was introduced during the reign of Omar and became a significant educational center. Damascus, the capital for Muslims during the Umayyad period, attracted scholars and wise people intensively. Damascus and Aleppo were two major settlements where Sufism was extensively practiced throughout Islamic history. The ascetic life in Damascus, highlighted in the early ages by hunger and night worship, began with companions such as Ebu'd-Derda and Bilal-i Habeşî. Many Sufi masters lived in this region and formed the infrastructure of Sufism in Syria. Ibrahim b. Edhem, Gazzâlî, Sühreverdî el-Maktûl, İbn Arabî, Abdulgânî en-Nabslusî are some of these figures. It is known that Hz. Mevlana also spent a period in Damascus and Aleppo. 20. By the 19th century, it was seen that various sects were active in Syria with their different branches. During our work, 20. We identified the following sects in Syria in the 19th century: Nakşibendiyye, Şazeliyye, Kadiriyye, Rifâiyye, Sa'diyye and Mevleviyye.
