Body affirmation in the art of painting in the context of the female body from the twentieth century to the present

Art and society always coexist in concert from past to present. Art support us to obtain information about the histories of societies to the present day. This information includes regarding social order and condition of the age. Arts have influence over the feelings and thoughts of people. Based on this the artist can give some messaged to audience by filtering own subjective thoughts about situations in society by work of art. In every period of art history, especially in the painting, female body imagery can be seen frequently. From a general point of view, it is observed that women's bodies, which appear periodically and are depicted by artists, are depicted by being influenced by the conditions of the age. Change can be seen on the perception of the female body by the developments that took place in the 20th and 21st centuries with the consumption society. Female body perception was pushed into monotype and idealized impress. Today, depictions of female figures are also affected by these monotype perceptions or took place in works with the opposite idea in order to destroy these perceptions. The body-affirmation movement, which is frequently mentioned today, is a rebellion launched in order to love and accept all aspects of the body, and to support the perception that the natural is beautiful. In addition to this, many of artists have depicted a female body which looks natural, fleshy, has sun spots, has no cosmetic, etc. to spill over on monotype perceptions. And artists have contributed to the body affirmation movement with the unifying and supportive power of art to break these taboos.
