20th century tile structures in the historical peninsula region of Istanbul and proposal for conservation of Liman Han-Hobyar Mosque tiles

Istanbul is one of the important cities of the world with its geopolitical location, historical and cultural texture. In order not to lose its historical and cultural texture over time and to increase the sustainability of the use of these areas, many historical artifacts are protected and repaired in Istanbul. Especially the Tarihi Yarımada is a place that is on the world's historical heritage list and where conservation activities are concentrated. The historical tiled structures covering the first thirty years of the 20th century are the most striking structures of the First National Architecture Period, also known as the first years of the Republic. The outer facades are decorated in places with historical Kütahya tiles, either on the window pediments, on the door pediment or as wall panels. Restoration works are being carried out on some of these buildings, which are not very well maintained today. This study aims to document the tiled structures of the first half of the 20th century in the Tarihi Yarımada region of Istanbul. For this reason, firstly 18 tiled structures in the Tarihi Yarımada region were identified. The history and architectural features of these identified structures are explained visually. In addition, Liman Han and Hobyar Masjid structures selected from these structures were examined in more detail and a conservation proposal was made by performing a restitution study.
