Özet (EN)
This thesis aims to investigate the effects of coincidence in arts, including the works of painters. The artists lived in the 20th century, were analyzed in the study. Among these artists, eleven of them, who use coincidence factors in their art works, are discussed. The concept of coincidence in art, has been analyzed in the terms of the scientific and philosophical innovations and developments of the century. In the 20th century with Modernism, new perspectives were needed in art. It is seen that, the artists used chance as a new technique of experimental painting method in their art works. Their search of making something new, may basically be interpreted as the efforts to establish a new aesthetic movement in art. They left the classical approaches and created a new language of expression. In this context, as a material, technique or theory, the artists have included various coincidental factors during the creation processes of their works. The concept of coincidence is used as a designing element in painting of the artists but, it isn't used for the whole work. In the process, as well as the random factors, the artist has effects on the application of the work. Keywords: Chance, accident, art of painting, quantum
