Özet (EN)
In this thesis study, it is aimed to determine the state and condition of the musical instrument, ?reed flute?, in modern world. The instrument, which comes from the ancient times, took on a holy value by getting out of the ?instrument? identity after the mystic poet Mevlana Jalal-ud-Din Rumi. To date there is not much written information or data left concerning this instrument that shows sacredness. At the present time, there are not enough articles, books, and thesis studies that bear the sociological or anthropologic data on reed flute, either. However, the answer to the questions concerning the position of this instrument today within the music world, what we know about how to play the instrument or the construction of it and who and people with what kind of ideas and musical ideologies play the instrument contain noteworthy data and information. This instrument, which has been the material for the world culture that is becoming more and more global in the 2000s, has always been on the path of traditionalism, modernism and even postmodernism. The path in this particular thesis study is tried to be determined by the interviews done with musicians and producers from every category, mode, style, genre, and manner. Although interview technique is used basically, because several interviewees who need to be on the thesis were abroad, outside the city or couldn?t have the time, the information has been received from them via e-mail. The answers from those who did not wish to be recorded digitally have been recorded by note taking technique. Interviewees who found several questions inessential or too long did not answer such questions; thus enabling us concluding with some information on the subject with their manner. The conservatism of people from the traditional school, experimental and personal works by people who were not educated by the traditionalist school, teachers, or masters force the limits of the instrument and draw a considerable attention. People between the two states mentioned also took place in this information flow. Following our musical and academic faculty of sight, people at the highest position in their field have been taken as models. The lack of information of those who couldn?t have been interviewed because of time has been substituted with their previous interviews and information and been spread over the study in general. This thesis is considered to be the substitute for the particular lack in the academic information flow both sociologically and musicologically.
