Reality and ideology in Turkish documantary after 2000

The concept of ideology in the broadest sense describes the idea of the system and organizes the environment in a systematic way. Ideology makes itself felt in every domain from the way of life to the production and consumption of it. The concept of reality, in the most general sense, refers to the fact that to be a real condition. Reality; as a very itself of reality; can be described as being free of every act of knowing and subject of knowledge; which is occurred at a certain moment and certain time, located in the concrete experience of life; indicating the presence objectively and describing the all aspects of the real nature of the things. In the daily use of the concept, reality refers to the anything that already exists. Each image and topic that is included in documentary films carries a certain meaning. The mainstream researches' claim of truth that the camera reflects the reality accurately, in fact cases ideological dimension of the image through positioning reality within the objectivity. Therefore, as claimed by the dominant paradigm in the documentary, it is not the reality which is recorded, on the contrary, it is coded, and this coding also produces an ideological sense of reality. Thus it is hiding that the reality of each presented reality is nothing more than an ideological reality. Not only in the choice of the subjects, but also while framing the camera, giving different angles of the frame, supporting with words and images, editing order of the shootings, reflects a particular world view; that is the dominant ideology. When the ten documentary films from the sample are examined, in some of them it is seen that the social reality which is constructed by the dominant ideology, is attempted to be changed in accordance with the ideology of the director. On the other hand, in other documentary films it is seen that the ideology of the director which is in accordance with the dominant ideology, contributes to the continuity of the social reality that exists. However, as a result of overall evaluation of the films; it is concluded that the existing reality is disrupted or transformed/changed by the social reality which is trying to be established in accordance with ideology of the director.
