Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY The aim of this research is; how the serves which are thrown in the matches in the final or semi-final of 2000 Wimbledon Men Tournament effected the winnig of the matches. In the research the trial group includes; Sampras (1.85 m - 79 kg - 27 years old) who is 3rd in the worlds order, Voltchkov (1.80 m - 75 kg - 22 years old) who is 35th, Rafter (1.88 m - 80 kg - 25 years old), who is 5th, and Agassi (1.81 m - 78 kg - 29 years old) who is 2nd order. In the research 1 final match and 2 semi - final matches are observed. Serve zones of the tennis court is observed by dividing 6 different parts. The matches which are recorded are analysed by watching in slow-motion. In the research pen-poper method is used. In the research; the number of serves which are throwen, the number of serves which are thnown from right and left, the number of first and second serves, the zones of firstly thrown serves, the zones of secondly thrown serves, the foult numbersof first and second serves, the foult places of first and second serves (net/out), ACE serve points which are trrown in the first and second serves, the directions of ACE serve (right/left). The number of zones which the ACE serve is fallen according to the directions, the points which are taken by the serves, the set numbers which are taken by the serves, the number of taken sets, the points which are last by the serves are analysed and their percentages are also taken. As a result; the sportsmen are using % 79 of total serves in the fist serve and % 29 of them in the sekond serve. The percentage of first serves which are in the gane is % 58.9 and the percentage of second serves which are in the game is % 84.5. And the findings show that; first serve fault percentage is % 41.2, second serve fault percentage is % 15.5, ACE serves are % 8.29. % 52.5 of total serves are thrown from right, % 47.5 of them are thrown from left. If we look at the fallen serve zones; the socend, third and fourth zones are more dense. Foults for the first serve is found as % 37.5 net and % 62.5 out, for the second serve is found as %45.5 net, %44.5 out. ACE serves which are thrown are more dense in second and fourth zones. At the end of the research it is found that; it isn't enough to win the match only by the thrown serve but also it is importont to return the serves and strategy in the match Key Words: Tennis, Match Analysis, Notational Analysis XIII
