Abstract (EN)

The earthquake in Bingol took place on May 1st, 2003, at 03.27. The intensity of this earhtquake was 6.4 and its epicenter was 14 km in the northwest of the city Bingol. This moderate sized earthquake had an impact which effected a very wide area including the Eastern Anatolia Region, the Southeastern Anatolia Region, and the east of the Black Sea Region. Earthquakes have occurred suddenly at any place till now, and it has caused the death of many people and alot of loss of property. Information and experiences gained after the occurance of earthquakes which had occurred up to now, have formed a basic for the analysis which were materialized, and which displayed the parameters which caused damage to constructions. These parameters are only uncovered with detailed damage assessment reports which only can be made after earthquakes have occurred. The purpose of this study is to statistically evaluate the effect of the earthquake on lodgings, with regards to the city centre of Bingol. To that end, data derived from various foundations were assessed, damage analysis based on observations were carried out, and the damage assessment reports of lodgings after earthquakes were utilized. These reports were examined, and analysis were materialized in accordance with the quarters in the city centre of Bingol, and the analysis results were evaluated.
