Abstract (EN)

In this study, the 5th grade Social Studies textbooks used in Social Studies Curriculum in 2005 and 2017 were compared according to the textbook review criteria. These criteria include; physical (formal), educational (goals, scientific content, learning-teaching process, measurement and evaluation), language and expression, visual design. Document analysis was chosen as the method in the research. A literature review on the subject area has been made. In the light of the data obtained from the literature review, the textbooks were examined. The research is limited to the Ministry of National Education. The findings of the study are largely consistent with the results of previous studies. The textbook prepared according to the 2017 Social Studies Curriculum was found to be more useful in terms of physical features and visual design. In the 2005 and 2017 Social Studies Curriculum 5th grade textbooks, deficiencies in terms of educational and language and expression were determined. Elimination of these shortcomings will enable the textbook to be used more efficiently.
