Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the student misbehaviours which the primary school teachers face in the application of 2005 Primary Education program which exhibits approach difference according to the program that was put into practice and abolished in 2005-2006 Education-Teaching season and to get the opinions of teachers about the reasons for those misbehaviours.The research population consisted of primary school teachers who were teaching 2.,3. and 4. grade students in Seyhan and Yüreğir towns of the city of Adana in 2007-2008 Education and Teaching season. Considering the aim and design of the research, the methods of taking sample from the population and forming working groups were chosen. Different sampling methods were used since the research was designed by using both quantitative and qualitative research designs. In accordance with the aim of the study 300 teachers who were chosen by cluster sampling were questioned and 15 of these teachers who were chosen by purposive sampling were interviewed and 5 of them were observedTeachers were asked to choose the student misbehaviours for them from an misbehaviours list of 61 items which was given them with the questionnaire. Of the teachers who were questioned, a group of teachers chosen according to their willingness were interviewed by using a semi-structured interview forms prepared by the researcher. During the interviews teachers were asked to define the student? misbehaviours, to give examples of them, to evaluate the new primary education program in terms of misbehaviours and classroom management and they were also asked to give their opinions related those misbehaviours. Classroom observations were made according to the results of the questionnaires and interviews.Results obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed through computer programs and results were presented with frequency and percentage tables. Content Analysis was used during the data analysis of Interviews and Classroom Observations.At the end of the study findings obtained from questionnaires and interviews were found to be similar. According to the results, exhibiting aggressive behaviours towards friends, talking to friends in a rude and obscene way, distraction, disturbing the other students by talking all the time, talking deliberately to delay the lesson were the most common misbehaviours stated by teachers. Most common misbehaviours observed in the classroom were talking without asking for permission, leaving the desk and walking around the classroom, interrupting friends or teachers and disordered ways of asking for right to speak.According to the results of the interview, teachers stated that the new primary education program had positive impact on the student? misbehaviours in the classroom and that it decreaed the frequency of facing the misbehaviours.There were differences between misbehaviours stated in the questionnaires and observed during classroom observations when the findings of the study were compared.Keywords: Classroom Management, Student?
