Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine the conceptions of high school physics teachers related to unit of electricity and magnetism in national physics teaching program.The participants of the study, selected randomly in Ankara, are 13 high school physics teachers from 3 counties (Çankaya, Mamak, Yenimahalle) of the city.A 40-item likert type questionnaire and structured interviews including 4 basic questions were utilized as the data collection instruments in the study. Teachers? answers to the questionnaire was coded and analyzed with SPSS. In addition to this, interview results of the participants were analyzed qualitatively.Data analysis of the study showed that high school physics teachers mentioned that new physics teaching program is insufficient in terms of its content, there are problems about the distribution of the subjects and laboratory materials of the schools are insufficient to achieve the objectives of the new teaching program. In addition to this, participant teachers mentioned that the concept of electrostatic should be included in the 9th class teaching program. Finally, participants stated that horizontal structure is not applicable to the physics teaching program because of the characteristics of physics.Key worlds: Physics teaching, curriculum, teacher opinions.
