A retrospective analysis of antibiotic use and consumption in the years 2010-2011 in inpatient treatment institutions under the Ministry of Health

Drug utilization research; drug use patterns, determinants of user profiles allows us to have an idea about the quality of health care usage output.Material Resources Management System (MRMS) monitores and manages the inventory records in which inpatient treatment institutions under the Ministry of Health and its affiliated institutions.In this thesis which used as a source of data MRMS ,drug utilization records is classified according to the ATC classification system, antibiotic use in the years 2010-2011 were analyzed retrospectively.As a result, infectious diseases is still a common problem as well as in other countries of OECD scales and antibiotic consumption is more than that, Turkey's pharmaceutical market has carried an oligopolistic market feature, a new generation antibiotic consumption has increased rapidly over the years and patterns of use that trigger the development of resistance, costs can be reduced with a choice of drugs that are generic products, antibiotic change of antibiotics consumption was observed between the regions and even in the same region over the years.Keywords: drug use resarch (DUR), antibiotic
