Abstract (EN)

This study considers that the current reality is aesthetically reconstructed in a cinema-specific way and discusses the director's position around the concept of cinematic reality by emphasizing its impact on the creative process. In the first part of the study, the definitions and theoretical approaches related to the concepts of time-space-movement, which are three basic elements that make up reality in cinema as in daily life, are mentioned. In this section where the development of concepts in the history of philosophy is explained, the relationship between philosophy and cinema is established and the thoughts of French philosopher Gilles Deleuze, who claims that cinema is a time art, is examined. However, the concepts that are the subject of the study are also discussed in terms of different cinema theories. In the second part of the study, definitions of director-oriented approaches in cinema are discussed and auteur thought, the only theoretical approach in which the director is accepted as an artist or a creator, is discussed. The concept of cinematic reality, which states that cinema recreates current reality with film tools and that this reality is unique to cinema regardless of degree of similarity, is examined in relation to auteur theory. In this context, how the basic elements of the film universe such as time-space-movement is shaped by the director in creative processes such as screenplay, shooting and editing is being investigated. This section also aims to make a director-oriented assessment of Turkish cinema history. In the third part, Pelin Esmer, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Reha Erdem, Zeki Demirkubuz and Semih Kaplanoğlu, who were found to be directly involved in the screenplay, filming and editing stages of Turkish cinema after 2010, are the latest films of İşe Yarar Bir Şey (2017), Ahlat Ağacı (2018), Koca Dünya (2016), Kor (2016) and Buğday (2017) are examined within the framework of time-space-movement elements.
