From the 3rd century BC to 3rd century AD, coins are ridden in the name of Myrina. Myrina, also known as the free city, was named for a short time Sebastopolis in the Roman Imperial Age. Myrina and Gryneion are the two Aiol cities that are often mentioned together. The ancient city of Gryneion has gradually become a small settlement and linked to the ancient city of Myrina. It is possible to see that the two ancients cities related to each other in the depictions of Gryneion Apollon Sanctuary on the Myrina coins. The founding of the two cities dates back before ancient Greek colonisation. Temple of Gryneion Apollo and gods sacred grove became most important oracle center in antiquity.
