Reflection of the American presidential elections of 2016 on discourses and attitudes in Turkish foreign policy

The reflections of foreign policy on domestic policy in Turkey have been examined through media in this research which is conducted over the critical discourse analysis in the period which also includes the United States (US) Presidential Elections held between the dates of August 1, 2016, and November 8, 2016. Having experienced political incidents with ups and downs after the July 15 coup attempt, Turkey faced with agenda topics which change hourly in the domestic policy until US Presidential elections. The mutual contacts started with USA on the subjects of FETO's being a global threat and its extradition to Turkey, Turkey's becoming effective in Syria with the Euphrates Shield operation, refugees, and hosting the World Humanitarian Summit was continued until US Presidential Election on the date of November 8, 2016. In this study, the dialogues conducted between Turkey and the USA in this period are discussed in terms of demands and concessions. In order that the dialogues in which these demands and concessions were negotiated are understood the news of Hürriyet and Sabah Newspapers are examined with the method of "Critical Discourse Analysis". In the examination of the newspapers; their transformation in terms of news' simplicity, consistency and focusing on politic issues and their implementation of news by restructuring them have been researched. One of the results of this research is that Hürriyet and Sabah Newspapers used different discourses in terms of the conducted "dialogues" while creating public opinion.
