Abstract (EN)

In this study, the carbonized or petrified plant remains obtained from Tatar Höyük (Ceyhan / Adana) during the 2017-2018 excavation season were investigated from the archaeobotanical point of view. In this context, generally different garbage pits, interior spaces, full bowls, oil lamps, as well as plant remains obtained from Pitos and hearths were identified and their place in the daily life of the inhabitants were tried to be revealed. Within the scope of the research, a total of 25 soil samples were collected from the areas belonging to 6 different trenches which were determined from the levels dating to the Hellenistic Period. Wet sieving (flotation) and dry sieving methods were used for the separation of plant residues from soil samples, As a result of the identification of the material belonging to the plant residues obtained by both methods in taxonomic, family, genus or species levels, a total of 45 different plant taxa samples were determined. 15 of these samples were cultivated and 30 of them were wild flora plants. The emergence of abundant barley (Hordeum vulgare) and 6 different wheat (Triticum aestivum, Triticum dicoccum, Triticum Kompactum, Triticum spelta, Triticum monococcum, Triticum sp) species from the research area, the main nutrients of In addition, a large number of seeds were obtained from the poaceae family. In some of the trenches, it was found that almost all of the obtained samples belonged to wild flora and showed great similarity with the current flora. The results obtained from this study will shed light on the works to be carried out in the excavation area and the region. In addition, archaeobotanical data will make important contributions in determining the quality of the spaces (storage, silo, kitchen, cooker, etc.) within the excavation area.
