Abstract (EN)
It is clearly stated in both the old and the new Turkish Penal Code that people with mental illness cannot be held responsible for their crimes. It will not be beneficial for these people to be imprisoned in terms of understanding the meaning of their actions and/or correcting them. In the penal law, it is aimed to prevent committing crimes and to eliminate their "dangerousness" by ensuring that those who are under protection and treatment are under the control of the healthcare team, not in prison conditions. In addition, patients are evaluated by courts all over Turkey on whether there is criminal responsibility in judicial cases. From this point of view, in this study, between the years 2018-2022, Adana City Training and Research Hospital High Security Forensic Psychiatry clinic; It is aimed to create sociodemographic characteristics, psychiatric diagnosis and crime profiles of people who are under observation, protection and surveillance. In addition, the characteristics of those who repeat crimes will be examined more closely, and the risk factors that play a role in repetition of violent behavior will be tried to be determined.
