Comparison of 2018 and 2024 science course curriculum and examination within the framework of teachers' opinions (Bursa province example)

The aim of this research is to compare the 2018 Science Course Curriculum, which was implemented in 2018 and is still being implemented at certain grade levels, and the 2024 Science Course Curriculum prepared within the scope of the Turkey Century Education Model, in terms of some variables and to obtain teachers' opinions. The research adopted a qualitative research approach and was conducted in two dimensions. In the first dimension of the research, the document review method was used to examine the 2018 and 2024 Science Course Curriculum (SCC) in terms of some variables and their similarities and differences. In the second dimension of the research, semi-structured interviews were conducted with a study group consisting of 14 science teachers working in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Bursa province, using the special case study method, and data were collected. The first dimension of the research, which is the 2018 to 2024 FBDÖP target, content, educational status and measurement-evaluation titles, was analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. The data obtained from the teacher interviews, which is the other dimension of the research, was analyzed using the content analysis method. In light of the findings of the study, the data obtained were collected under seven sub-themes by considering the general views of the science teachers participating in the study on the new curriculum, content, achievement, teaching-learning processes, measurement and evaluation, and effective science teaching. In the light of the findings revealed within the scope of the research, suggestions for the 2024 Science Course Curriculum were presented.
