Abstract (EN)

The importance of economics education has been increasing day by day in order to adapt the individuals for ever-changing conditions. As an interdisciplinary subject, the social sciences curriculum and the coursebooks which include economics literature are in charge of bringing up economically literate individuals. In this research, the economics literacy literature was analyzed, and in this regard, 218 concepts/notions were identified. It was analyzed whether these identified concepts were included in the 2018 social science curriculum and the textbooks prepared in line with this curriculum. In the analysis process, the main parts and the lesson objectives in the social science lesson curriculum were investigated in terms of economic literacy in accordance with the nature of the general survey model. Document analyses technique was used for the data collection. Findings acquired by the descriptive analysis method were organized and interpreted. As a result of this research, it was found that concepts regarding the economic literary such as credit cards, were not included in the so-called social sciences curriculum textbooks sufficiently. For that reason, it was concluded that the implication of a wide range of concepts, skills and values about economic literacy in the textbooks is a necessity. Keywords: Social Sciences lesson, Economic literacy, Financial knowledge, Financial awareness.
