Opinions of business training teachers on 2018 Technology and Design course teaching program

Technology and Design course is taught in 7th and 8th grade programs in secondary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education (MEB). This course, which is basically Business Education, has changed and developed through different processes until today, and has taken its final form under the name of 2018 Technology and Design course curriculum. Today, there are Job Education teachers who actively observed the processes among the teachers who are the source of this course. The aim of the study is to evaluate the Technology and Design course curriculum by taking the opinions of Business Education teachers about the 2018 Technology and Design course curriculum. In addition, within the scope of the study, the historical process from the Business Education course to the Technology and Design course and the structures of the programs, the historical process of the schools and departments that are the source of the training of Technology and Design teachers, the technology and design education of different countries were examined. The research carried out within the scope of the cross-sectional survey model includes Job Training teachers working in secondary schools in Ankara Yenimahalle district. The validity and reliability analyzes of the data collection tool developed by the researcher were made. SPSS 24.0 was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the study, it was seen that the program outcomes were aimed at providing students with product development skills and improving their problem solving skills. It was concluded that the duration of the lessons was insufficient and the teachers needed in-service training in order to implement the program. In this context, necessary arrangements can be made to rearrange the course times and to meet the in-service training needs of teachers. It can be suggested to create the necessary physical conditions for schools that do not have technology and design workshops.
