Examination of animated movie generics released between 2020 – 2022 in the context of typography and proposal to apply an animated movie generics

The 20th century, also referred to as the industrial revolution, has been a period of technological developments and the reviewing and reforming of the disciplines of art and design. In the face of mechanization, artists and designers have tried to express themselves with an innovative approach by objecting to their living circumstances and the popular aesthetic understanding of art forms. In this period, graphic design was separated from art, becoming a prominent discipline after the acceleration of certain publications. The typography technique, which provides visual communication, has particularly played a great role in the work of artists and designers. The definition of typography describes a design technique formed by arranging the letters in a certain frame with functional and artistic features. In modern times, the area of application for typography has expanded widely thanks to the possibilities created by the advance of technology, and therefore its nature has evolved from static to kinetic. Kinetic typography is an animated form of the art and is characterized by the movement of typographic elements over time. This technique, along with sound, music, animation and motion graphics, is designed with computer programs and offers the audience an interactive experience. Kinetic typography has become a popular trend in the modern digital world. It has quickly spread to many areas such as movie credits, computer games, music videos, educational videos, and digital media. Movie credits, which have evolved in tandem with cinematic technology, are one of the informative forms of content where kinetic typography is incredibly effective. Credits are shown at the beginning or end of movies and add communicative features to the story being told. The aim of this study is to examine and analyze the importance, impact, and development of the kinetic typography used in the credits of animated films, and to contribute to the literature by bringing an application proposal.
