An examination of the 2024 religious culture and moral knowledge course (grades 4-8) curriculum in terms of the Türkiye Century Education Model skills framework

This study investigates how the conceptual skills, social-emotional learning skills, dispositions, literacy skills, and religious education and instruction field skills defined within the skills framework of the Türkiye Century Education Model developed in 2024 are represented in the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge course curriculum for grades 4-8. The research employed a qualitative methodology, specifically document analysis, utilizing the Türkiye Century Education Model Common Framework and the 2024 Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge (grades 4–8) Curriculum as data sources. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis based on five predefined competency themes. The findings indicate that while the competencies outlined in the Türkiye Century Education Model are reflected at varying levels within the curriculum, some competencies are only partially represented. Notably, there is a lack of practical content in the areas of social-emotional learning and dispositions. This study provides up-to-date and original insights into the integration of Türkiye Century Education Model's skills-based approach into the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge curriculum and offers guidance for curriculum developers, practitioners, and educational policymakers.
