Abstract (EN)
On 21.07.2017, at 01:31, there was an earthquake centered in Bodrum-Muğla. AFAD-TEDCS (Turkey Earthquake Data Center System) is taken from the obtained solution was made with data updated Mw = 6.5 magnitudes. Immediately after the earthquake, 511 aftershocks with magnitudes varying between 1.8 and 5.0 (as of 22/07/2017-10:00) occurred. The closest settlement to the epicenter of the earthquake is the Central village of Bodrum district of Muğla province (12.09 km). 21.07.2017 (01:31) Muğla-Bodrum earthquake (Mw = 6.5) earthquake epicenter at 9.87 and 43.05 km from the AFAD Turkey Strong Motion Observation network of 22 accelerometers station (first estimate) recorded by. The closest station at a distance of 9.87km to the outer center of the earthquake is Muğla Bodrum station and the highest acceleration values were measured as 158.77cm/s2 in the N-S component, 102.01cm/s2 in the E-W component and 88.04cm/s2 in the vertical component, respectively. It has also been shown that the S wave phase is recorded for 8.5 seconds in the K-G and E-W components. According to the MTA active fault map (2012), the major fault systems located near the earthquake epicenter are the Gökova Fault Zone. The earthquake of Mw = 6.5 magnitudes occurred on the N82E-53SW sloping normal fault that bounded the Gulf from the north. The earthquake time is one of the important parameters that determine structural damage. It has been announced that the acceleration value at Muğla-Bodrum station is higher than 158.78cm/sec2 and takes about 11 seconds. The area has significant seismic activities and complex fault systems. The acceleration record at Muğla-Bodrum station is very important for strong ground motion seismology. Since the location record is higher than the expected empirical values, major damages have occurred in the buildings.
