Digital storytelling applications in the development of 21st century skills: Learning and innovation skills in gifted primary students samples

The main aim of this research is to determine the effect of digital storytelling practices in the development of learning and innovation skills of 21st century primary school second grade gifted students. The participants of the research consist of 20 second grade gifted students studying in Eskişehir Emine Emir Şahbaz Science and Art Center. Quantitatively; 21st century learning and innovation skills scale, qualitatively; semi-structured interviews, researcher field notes, student products were used as data collection tools. According to the quantitative results of the research; It was concluded that the digital storytelling practices that students performed positively improved their 21st century learning and innovation skills, that their learning and innovation skills improved creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving skills positively, and did not affect the collaboration and communication sub-skills. According to the qualitative results of the research; Students' creativity and innovation skills through activities such as writing stories, discovering new applications, acting original in character design and making their own work; critical thinking and problem solving skills in terms of being free in topic determination and utilizing technology; It can be stated that it contributes to cooperation and communication skills in the context of working in cooperation with friends.
