The role of energy in the security politics of 21st century and energy security politics of India

Through the 21st Century, many alternations have occured in the concept of ?safety?, one of which is the ?energy? dimension of safety. The war evolving with the discovery of fuel at the beginning of 20th century has been proceeding for a century and the fight in the energy field has been settled at the agenda of almost all the countries around the world. Foreign policies of the nations have been started to be based mainly on energy sector. Meanwhile Asia has started to be mentioned most often on the energy field. Especially with their nearly 2.5 billion population and increasing energy requirements, China and India have obtained crucial roles in the energy politics. In this context, as one of the most important actor of the region, India reveals both in the regional and global developments. India has begun to come across with China, which is another very important actor in the region, because of its increasing energy consumption. The conditions that India has to provide in order to maintain its important role in the competition in this region are possesion and diversification of energy resources. The power of India, as a country taking major steps to become a regional leader, is directly proportional to the accurate management of its policies on the energy security. Due to increasing population and economical developmets the energy demand in the country has been increasing. This indicates that competition in the energy field in the region will keep on ascending gradually. The policies on the energy security will designate India?s victory in this war.
