Terror and the representation of terror on media in 21.century: the presetation Ankara and Paris attacks on Turkish and French press

Abstract (EN)

Today, media as a forth power, presents the goings-on which is all over the world, by forming around it's ideology, to crowed of people consumption. In this context, it's not possible to hope that media should be objective. Therefore; media can develop news discourse in a serving form to ideologies and administrative power and also, by adopting an ideology except for accustomed, media can be produce news in this direction. What is more to the point, media reproduces the truth by going beyond informing. In 21.century, dominant powers, which recognized the power of media, tries to take hold of the media. Thereby, it has to serve to dominant powers by is attached some filters, while media creates the contents of new, like Herman and Chomsky's propaganda model. But media unconditionally shows the events to individual who create to society, like they wanted and make people think in the same direction. This studying aims to find out the interaction of news, discourse and ideology and accordingly aims to reveal the process of reproduction, and aims to determine how terrorist actions are represented in media. In this survey Ankara attack which was made real by internation terror organisation DAEŞ in October 10, 2015 and Paris attack was made real in November 13, 2015 news are analyzed, Turkish and French press are compared. Since the analysis method is inadequate alone and the basis of studying is based upon propaganda model which is created from critical hypothesis, Sabah, Cumhuriyet, Yeni Akit, Hürriyet, Le Monde, Libération and Le Figaro newspapers are attached to investigate and van Dijk's critical discourse analysis is used. In addition content analysis is also used not to keep away from the objectivity and to determine the quantitative situations which takes part in the news. In this context in the first section of the studying, terror and terrorism are handled as a cognitive and in the second part the representation of terror in media is emphasized. As to the last part consists of application section which includes Ankara and Paris attack news and their content and critical discourse analysis. Consequently, it is established that Turkish and French press make logically different news about the same terror attacts, French press more cares about national values and interests then Turkish press, and every newspaper make journalism turns to a propaganda tool in the direction of some ideologies.
