Abstract (EN)

When Turkish political history is examined, it is seen that the democracy process has been interrupted many times by military coups in the past. In this thesis, the 28 February Postmodern Coup was examined by referring to the coup processes in Turkey and the role of the media phenomenon in this coup process. The coup processes have changed with the technological opportunities that have developed after the 1990s, and the current government has been forced to resign not by force of arms, but by the psychological pressure created by the public. Combining the coup processes experienced in political history, political scientists who pondered the event that took place in the February 28 process, later named this process with new terms such as "Postmodern Coup". Even though the military was the actor in the background during the February 28 process, the media was at the forefront and the military carried out this process by the help of media. In this process, media was admired by some sections while soe sections criticized.
