Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of the thesis study, the rockfall incident that occurred in the southeastern part of the Multi-Program Anatolian High School in Hemşin District of Rize Province and caused partial collapse of the indoor sports hall was investigated and appropriate rock remediation methods were determined. The study was realized in 4 stages. These stages are; field study, laboratory study, 2-3 dimensional analysis and determination of remediation methods. Within the scope of the field study, firstly, the discontinuity features required for kinematic analysis, limit equilibrium and 3D analysis were determined on the rock slope. Afterwards, block samples were obtained from the rock slope for laboratory experiments. In the last stage of the field study, the map required for rockfall analysis was created using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Samples were prepared from block samples taken from the field, and the physico-mechanical properties of the rock material were determined with core samples and the internal friction angle of the discontinuity surface was determined by tilt test. Kinematic analyses, limit equilibrium analyses and 2-3 dimensional rockfall analyses were performed using the discontinuity properties measured in the field, maps and results obtained from laboratory experiments. In the next stage of the analyses, 2 and 3 dimensional rockfall analyses were performed using the maps produced and the speed, energy, jump height and impact locations of the moving blocks were determined. In this way, the measures to protect the sports hall and school against possible rockfalls were designed.
