Abstract (EN)

The success of N-Heterocyclic carben ligands (NHC) with transition metals in the catalytic field; due to the strong bond between metal and carbene carbon, the catalyst does not degrade, and the NHC ligand structure increases its activity with its steric and electronic effect on the metal center. Many metal-NHC complexes come to the forefront in medicine as metal medicaments due to their strong biological activities and low side effects. In particular, Ag (I) -, Au (I) -, Ru (II) - and Pd (II) -NHC complexes stand out among these new complexes in that they facilitate the application and design of new drugs. For the reasons stated above, the studies and the results obtained within the scope of this thesis can be summarized under nine headings: 1) NHC-Pd-pyridine complexes (2) synthesized from 3-cyanobenzyl substituted carbene precursors (1) and NHC-PdBr2-morpholine (3a-e) complexes were obtained from the reaction of morpholine. The structures of the synthesized complexes are illuminated by appropriate spectroscopic methods. xiii 2) Dibromo [1- (3-cyanobenzyl) -3- (4-methylbenzyl) benzimidazole-2-ylidene (3-cyanobenzylbenzimidazole) from the reaction of the synthesized NHC-PdBr2-pyridine complexes and 1- (3-cyanobenzyl) benzimidazole compound (II)] (4a-c). The structures of the synthesized complexes were illuminated by appropriate spectroscopic methods. 3) NHC-PdBr2- (2-aminopyridine) (5a-f) complexes were obtained from the reaction of NHC-Pd-pyridine complexes (2) and 2-aminopyridine. The structures of the synthesized complexes are illuminated by appropriate spectroscopic methods. 4) NHC-PdBr2-PPh3 (6a-g) complexes were obtained from the reaction of NHC-Pd-pyridine complexes (2) and triphenylphosphine. The structures of the synthesized complexes are illuminated by appropriate spectroscopic methods. 5) Ag (I) NHC complexes (7a-c) were synthesized from the reaction of Ag2O with carben precursors (1) and their structures were illuminated by appropriate spectroscopic methods. 6) Ag (I) was synthesized from the reaction of NHC complexes (7) and [RuCl2(p-simen)]2 (transmetalation method), NHC-RuCl2(p-simen) (8a-c) and their structures were illuminated by appropriate spectroscopic methods. 7) The catalytic activities of NHC-Pd(II)-PPh3 complexes (6a-g) in Sonogashira reactions in aqueous medium were investigated. 8) NHC-PdBr2-(morpholine) (3a-e), dibromo [1-(3-cyanobenzyl)-3-(4-methylbenzyl) benzimidazol-2-ylidene(3-cyanobenzylbenzimidazole)(palladium(II)] DNA binding effects of (4a-c), NHC-Ag (7a-c) and NHC-Ru (8a-c) complexes were investigated. 9) Inhibition effects of NHC-Pd(II)-(2-aminopyridine) complexes (5) against Xanthine Oxidase (XO) and Carbonic anhydrase (CA) enzymes were investigated. KEY WORDS: N-heterocyclic carbene; benzimidazole; Silver-NHC complexes; NHC-Pd(II)-morpholine complexes; NHC-Pd(II)-PPh3 complexes; Sonogashira coupling reaction; Enzyme inhibition; DNA binding; X-crystallography.
