Examination of the relationship between the social skills of children between 4-6 years and the emotional abuse potentials of their mothers

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between the social skills of children aged 4-6 and their mothers' emotional abuse potential. This research is a descriptive study using scanning model. The sample group consists of 300 children attending pre-school education and their mothers. Personal Information Form, Emotional Abuse Potential Scale for Parents with 3-6 Years-Old Children (DIPÖ) and Social Skills Evaluation Scale (SBDÖ) were used to collect data. In the analysis of data; t-test, pearson correlation test, anova and multiple regression tests were used. Research results; while there was no significant difference between children's social skills and variables of gender, mother's education level and father's profession; father's education level, mother's occupation status, family income level, the child's pre-school education period and the number of children vary significantly. The mother's potential for emotional abuse is; While there are significant differences in terms of mother and father education level, mother's profession, family income level, number of children and the duration of the child's pre-school education; There was no significant difference in terms of the gender of the child and the father's occupation status variables. While there was no significant relationship between the preventive sub-dimension of the potential for emotional abuse scale, the skills to accept the results of the social skills assessment scale, and the sub-dimension of self-control skills; It was concluded that there is a negative relationship between all other sub-dimensions of the social skills assessment scale and all sub-dimensions of the emotional abuse potentials scale and total scale scores. In addition, it was concluded that there is a negative significant relationship between the sub-dimensions and total scores of the social skills assessment scale and the potential for emotional abuse scale.
