The evaluation of the Diyanet Çocuk YouTube channel in terms of values education according to Quran course instructors for children aged 4-6

In our country, the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı) is the leading institution that operates institutionally within the scope of widespread religious education. The institution has been carrying out these activities through various platforms since 1924. Especially in recent years, with the increase of web 2.0 technology-based applications, the Presidency of Religious Affairs has decided to fulfill its constitutional duty of enlightening the public about religion and has established the Diyanet TV YouTube Channel accordingly. The aim of this study is to evaluate the Diyanet Çocuk (Diyanet Kids) YouTube Channel from various aspects according to Quran course instructors for children aged 4-6, and to determine its place in values education. The study was conducted using the qualitative research method in a case study design. The study group consisted of 20 Quran course instructors working in Şanlıurfa, selected as a sample for the purpose. The data of the research were collected through a semi-structured interview form. The content analysis method was used for data analysis. Looking at the results of the research, it was found that all Quran course instructors who participated in the study used the Diyanet Çocuk YouTube Channel in their lessons, 80% of them used the content more than once a week, and the purpose of use was to reinforce the lessons. When the technological infrastructure competencies of the Quran courses were examined, it was determined that almost all of the instructors had deficiencies in terms of technological infrastructure, which made it difficult to use the content in the courses. However, despite this, positive feedback and changes were received from the students regarding the use of the content. Regarding the deficiencies in the Diyanet Çocuk YouTube Channel, it was stated that along with many shortcomings, the content was not suitable for hearing-impaired users. In the recommendations section, it was suggested that sign language should be added to the content to address this particular deficiency.
