Transcription and evaluation of Trabzon Judgement Book numbered 4

Various institutions were established to implement the concept of justice in theoretical and practical manner through historical process of Ottoman political tradition. While justice was implemented, these institutions did not discriminate Ottoman people according to their language, religion, race and gender. Furthermore, in case of necessity one has the right to report grievances not only to local authority but also centralized management. The grievances of public were recorded. After these grievances were examined first "complaint books", later "books of the judgement" came into existence. Books of the judgement carry a great significance in the light of implementation of judicial system. In books of the judgement, relations of people with each other and with governers are analysed in view of the grievances. In this study, the number four judgement book of Trabzon is transcribed and evaluated. Additionally, the grievances from Province of Trabzon and the cities of the province are investigated. The grievances are classified and inspected on result of the judgements of these grievances. Keywords: Justice, Complain, Judgement, Trabzon province.
