Investigation of primary school 4th grade students' school culture perceptions in terms of some variables

The aim of the research is to determine primary school 4th grade students' school culture perception and to examine students' school culture perceptions in terms of some variables. Reational survey model was used in the study. Research universe of the study was students attending schools in Yeşilyurt and Battalgazi counties of Malatya province in 2016-2017 school year. Research sample was 783 students selected from the universe. In this research, data collecting tool consisting of three parts was used. School culture scale used in this study was developed by the researcher. The data collected through the data collection tool were analyzed by SPSS program. When the data was obtained, primarily descriptive statistics were determined. Due to the abnormal distribution of the research data, Mann-whitney U and KruskalWallis tests were used. According to the research results, students' school culture perceptions were reaveled to be at good level with ( = 2,56 ) average. It was determined that students' school culture perceptions was the highest in belonging subscale. With respect to gender, family income, education level of mother, education level of father, social layer and school size variables, significant differences were determined in students' school culture perceptions. Based on the findings obtained in the study, it is recommended that seminars about the school culture sould be held for parents, school administrators and school staff who affect the school culture perceptions of the students.
