The effect of the use of concept cartoon in the production, distribution and consumption learning success of the 4th grade social studies course

The aim of thisstudy is to determinethe effect of concept caricature-based teaching activities used on 4th grade social studie scourse on academic achievement. Research model pretest post test control group quasi-experiment aldesign. Study of research group in an elementary school in Gumusova district of Duzce province in the 2018-2019 academic year 4th grade students. Research was conducted in thecontrolgroup of program-based teaching activities 4th grade social studie scourse "Production, Distribution and Consumption" unit based on the concept cartoon teaching activities in the experiment algroup. The application period of the study was determined as 15 weeks and total of 5 weeks. The achievement test, whichconsisted of 44 questions, wasapplied as a pilot studyto 143 5th grade students studying in different schools. The determined success test was applied to the experiment aland control groups before and after the application. The data of the study was collected through achievement test and concept caricature activity sheets; SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) program was used for data analysis. According to the findings obtained from the analyzes, it was concluded that the students based on concept caricature activities increased the success of social studies course; There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of gender, but the average success of female students It was found to be higher than male students.According to the results, it can be expand the applications of concept cartoons teaching social studies and to use more concept cartoon applications in different learning domain and units.
