The research on the relationship between emotional regulation skills, behavioral problem and parental attitudes of 48-66 months old pre-scholl children

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between emotion regulation skills, behavioral problems and parental attitudes of 48-66 month-old children attending pre-school education institutions. The research was carried out with 342 children aged 48-66 months and their parents in private pre-school education institutions in Çukurova, Seyhan and Sarıçam districts in Adana, using convenience sampling method. Relational screening model was used in the research. In the collection of research data, the survey technique which is one of the most frequently used techniques from scanning models, was used. In the study, Preschool Behavior Problems Screening Scale developed by Kanlıkılıçer (2005) and Emotion Regulation Scale developed by Batum and Yagmurlu (2007) were applied to the teachers of 48-66 month old children. Parental Attitude Scale developed by Demir and Şendil (2008) was applied to the parents of the children included in the study. As a result of the research, it was revealed that the democratic and overprotective parental attitudes of the participants were at a "low" level, while their authoritarian and permissive attitudes were at a "moderate" level. In the study, it was concluded that children aged 48-66 months had "low emotion regulation difficulty". However, results have emerged that 48-66 months old children have "high emotion regulation skills" and "low emotion regulation difficulties". In the study, it was found that there was no significant relationship between the level of "lability/negativity" and the level of "being belligerent-aggressive" in 48-66 month-old children, but there was a highly negative significant relationship between the level of "anxious, tearful, hyperactive and careless".
