According To The 49/1 Number Of Sweden Ahidnâme Register; Ottoman-Sweden trade relations (1736-1758)

When Ottoman Empire expanded its borderlands, with the help of the domination of Ottoman Empire in Mediterranean and the Black Sea, both political and commercial relations were established with lots of states. States wishing to trade with Ottoman Empire had to have this right by making commercial agreements. One of the states that developed commercial relations with the Ottomans was Sweden. This state acquired this right by making a trade agreement with the Ottoman Empire in 1737. After this treaty, Swedish diplomatic and commercial actors began to exist in the Ottoman lands. In our research, 49/1 number Sweden Ahidname Register wich found in the Prime MinistryOttoman Archives which includes the provisions written between 1736-1758 concerning Swedes who participated in trade activities in the Ottoman Empire were analyzed. It will be given detailed information concerning of contacts between Sweden and Ottoman Empire during the period under question, in which the Swedish diplomatic and trade actors were emphasized. The status of Swedish diplomats and trade representatives from the Ottoman perspective and privileges they acquired through the ahdname (capitulation) of 1737. The physical locations of these actors, the problems they had faced, and the situations which had threatened their security were analyzed with reference to the written records of provisions.
