Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study was to determine to what extent the 5th to 8th grade mathematics textbooks were covered in accordance with PISA Change and Relationship Scale, how the level of the tasks in the texbooks differed according to the different learning areas and grade levels. In addition, in this study how much algebra learning area in mathematics textbooks reflected the competency leves of change and relationship scale was investigated specifically. The textbooks studied in this study were analyzed by document analysis technique. By this technique a total of four books, one book from each grade level of 5th-8th grade textbooks being studied in middle schools in our country were identified and investigated. Analysis was carried out with respect to the the PISA Change and Relationship Scale. According to PISA Change and Relationship Scale, there are six levels. According to the results, no task was found at the 6, 5 and 4. Levels in mathematics textbooks. All of the tasks in mathematics textbooks were the 1, 2 and 3. Level questions. This shows that mathematics textbooks are insufficient to include proficiency levels in the change and relationships area in PISA assessment. When the questions in the textbooks were investigated according to the learning areas, it was seen that Level 3 questions of algebra learning area were higher than Level 3 questions of other learning areas. When mathematics textbooks were investigated according to the grade levels, as the grade level increased, the difficulty level of the tasks also increased. However, the questions are not the kind of questions that can assess high level competences. When the texbooks were investigated according to the learning areas at different grade levels, no apperant differences were found in their proficiency levels.
