Evaluation of 5th grade English curriculum with Stake's responsive evaluation model

The aim of this research is to evaluate the level of response to the needs of the 5thgrade English curriculum with Stake's responsive evaluation model. The study group of the research, which was conducted as a case study from qualitative research method designs, consists of 8 English teachers and 7 secondary school students from the center of Bolvadin district of Afyonkarahisar province. With in the scope of the study, the 5thgrade English curriculum, text boks and additional resources were examined by document analysis method. Individual interviews were conducted with the teachers using semi-structured interview forms. After the individual interviews, seperate focus group interviews were held with teachers and students. The data collection phase was completed with classroom observations. As a result of the content analysis, it was understood that the parents and administrative units has a negative effect on the program operation, the student motivation was low, the insufficient class hours caused anxiety in the teacher, but the technological and physical facilities were sufficient. It has been observed that the course learning outcomes given in the program and the practices made in the classroom do not overlap, and the determined evaluation criteria were not applied in the classrooms. It was concluded that the content of the program was not diversified according to students, it was boring and intense. It was also stated that not all of the language skills were implemented, and that the textbook was inadequate and ineffective.
