Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to examine the effect of structuring the 5th grade fractions topic through creative drama on mathematical process skills. The research was conducted according to the explanatory sequential design from mixed research methods. The sample of the research consists of 25 students at a public school affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Muratpaşa district of Antalya. The students were selected from among sixth grade students using a convenience sampling method, which is a non-random sampling method. The implementation phase of the research lasted 5 weeks. During this period, 9 workshops were held. As a data collection tool, the "Mathematical Process Skills Self-Efficacy Scale" developed by İnam (2020) was used as pre-test and post-test, workshop evaluation forms and semi-structured interview form. Wilcoxon Sihned Rank test was applied to the pre-test and post-test scores obtained from the Self-Efficacy Perception Scale for Mathematical Process Skills. Independent samples t-Test was applied to examine the effect by gender. Descriptive and content analysis methods were used to analyze the data collected during the qualitative analysis phase. According to the quantitative results of the study, it was seen that structuring the 5th grade fractions topic with creative drama had a significant effect on the students' mathematical process skills self-efficacy levels and this effect differed according to gender. According to the qualitative findings, it was concluded that mathematics lessons structured with creative drama have an effect on mathematical process skills.
