Abstract (EN)

The foundation of the economic structure in the Ottoman Empire was agricultural and animal production. These taxes were taken from the goods produced by the people, and these taxes were of great importance in terms of strengthening the economic structure. In order to collect this tax, the agricultural products and labor force in the region had to be determined. For this reason, Tahrir books provide researchers with the necessary information on economic, demographic and social issues related to the region where Tahrir is made. Ergani, which is our subject of research, is a sanjak in the province of Diyarbekir and is a classical Ottoman sanjak dominated by Turkish-Islamic culture. The third Tahrir defter of the Ottoman Empire, number. 51, was recorded in 1566. In this study, the General History of Ergani Sanjak was given first and the administrative, demographic and economic situation was explained in accordance with the Tahrir defter dated 1566 and Comparative with Tahrir defter dated 1518. In general, the Ergani sanjak consists of 1 Town and 3 cities. These are the towns of Ergani, Hisaran, Behrimaz and Çüngüş. In general, the administrative position of Ergani Sanjak is composed of 215 villages, 81 hamlet and 5 neighborhood excluding the center. The most important economic return of the sanjak is agricultural production. In addition to agriculture in the region is done in animal husbandry.
