The transcription and evaluation of Court Records' Book Karahisâr-i Sâhib with 572 numbered (2 February 1847 – 4 October 1847)

In this study, the transcription, evaluation and summary of the Karahisâr-ı Sâhib Şer'iyye Registry No. 572, which contains the records between the dates of 15 Safar 1263 (2 February 1847) and 23 Shawwal 1263 (4 October 1847), was made. As a result of the information obtained from two hundred and eighty-three documents in the book, the administrative, social and economic structure of the period belonging to Karahisâr-ı Sahib was evaluated. From the notebook, it was possible to determine the names of villages and neighborhoods and some place names within the central district regarding the administrative and physical structure of Karahisar-ı Sahib. From the book, which consists mainly of documents related to the purchase and sale of real estate, houses, vineyards, shops, land, fields, shares and prices of the period are determined and presented in tabular form. In addition, from the book, which is very rich in terms of land records, very rich information was obtained on the types and prices of the goods and goods belonging to the owners of the estate, the number of children and spouses, the names of the places and individuals mentioned in the estate, nicknames, receivables, debts, inheritance division, etc. The study will shed light on the provincial organization and life of Afyonkarahisar in particular and the Ottoman Empire in general, and will contribute to other studies related to the history of the region.
