Abstract (EN)

This research aims to investigate the impact of learning environments designed according to the 5E learning model on the mathematical literacy levels of 7th-grade students. The study is conducted at a secondary school located on the European side of Istanbul during the 2022-2023 academic year. The research, which lasted for 8 weeks, is contucted with 40 students enrolled in the 7th grade. Action research, a qualitative research method, is used in the study. Eight action plans focusing on the algebra learning domain, including the stages of the 5E learning model, are utilized in the research. Data collection instruments included action plans, a readiness test, interim assessment tests, a mathematical literacy test, and a researcher's journal. Descriptive analysis is used to analyze the data collected in the study. As a result of the research, it is found that the mathematical literacy levels of 7th-grade students are at a moderate level. Additionally, the research findings provide insights into the aspects where improvement is needed concerning the implementation of the 5E learning model and the mathematical literacy levels of the students.
