Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, a research was carried out on electronic control of microwave resonators and metamaterials, which play an important role in telecommunication applications. Within the scope of the research, different types of resonator structures were designed and the radiation parameters were modeled as electronically controllable characteristics. Resonator structures are designed for different frequency regions in order to meet the developments and demands in the field of telecommunication systems. Microwave resonator structures, especially antennas, constitute the basic components of many telecommunication applications, and it is also possible to increase the performance of these resonators by integrating different types of metamaterial structures. In the first part of the study, a model that gives the metallic substrate plane pattern of a monopole antenna with the desired radiation direction and intensity was designed using the artificial neural network model. With the model in this study, it has been shown that a monopole antenna can be controlled in which direction and with what intensity it will radiate by different configurations of the metallic substrate plane. In the second study, a series of patch antenna structures were integrated into a cubic model and connected to a central feed line. By adding RF switches to the center feed line, the antenna is enabled to radiate in the desired direction. Similarly, in another study, 12 RF switches were integrated into the ground plane of a monopole antenna and single or multiple radiation in the desired direction was achieved in a controlled manner. In the fourth study, a metasurface structure was designed to be electronically controllable as a reflectarray structure. In the following parts of the study, frequency reconfigurable antenna structures for 28GHz and 38GHz frequencies, which are the 5G frequencies, were realized. The last 3 studies of the research were on antenna design and metamaterial parasitic elements and add-ons for E-band frequencies. The proposed antenna structures were designed for high frequency communication systems. The conducted 11 different studies include both numerical and experimental studies.
