Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to examine the effect of the 6+1 Analytical Writing and Assessment Method on the writing skills of 4th grade students. For this purpose, the research was conducted using a quasi-experimental research method with experimental and control groups with pre-test and post-test measurements. In order to investigate whether the 6+1 Analytical Writing and Assessment Method was effective for the students in the experimental group, a lesson plan was prepared for 9 weeks and 27 lesson hours in total and implemented by the researcher in a primary school in the center of Aksaray province. The students in the control group were not subjected to any application and the Turkish lesson was taught in its normal flow. The students in both the experimental and control groups were asked to write a writing titled 'Friendship' in the pre-test and post-test measurements. The writings obtained in the pre-test and post-test were evaluated in accordance with the 6+1 Analytical Writing and Evaluation Method. In the analysis of the research data, the Chi-square test was used to compare the descriptive characteristics of the students in the experimental and control groups. Independent samples (independent groups) t test was used to compare the mean scale scores between the groups, and paired samples (dependent groups) t test was used to compare within-group averages. While there was no significant difference between the pre-test mean scores of the students in the experimental and control groups, the post-test mean scores of the experimental group were found to be significantly higher than the control group in terms of 6+1 Analytical Writing and Evaluation Scale total score and all sub-dimensions mean scores. When these results were evaluated, it was concluded that the 6+1 Analytical Writing and Assessment Method applied to the students in the experimental group increased students' writing skills. For this reason, it is recommended to use the 6+1 Analytical Writing and Assessment Method, which is one of the methods used in process-based approaches, to increase students' writing skills and motivation in the teaching of Turkish lessons.
