Comparison of language teaching books prepared for 6-9 year old students: Spanish, Turkish, Italian and German

The aim of this study is to determine the similarities and differences in terms of form, content, basic language competencies, vocabulary and vocabulary acquisition methods and techniques in "Çocuklar İçin Türkçe 1", "Bruno und Ich 1", "Ambaraba 1" and "Lola y Leo 1" textbooks by using document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. Criterion sampling was used in the selection of the study sources used in the research. The criteria of language teaching textbooks being prepared for foreign students between the ages of 6-9 in bilingual environments, being up-to-date and being basic level were taken into consideration. Accordingly, "Çocuklar İçin Türkçe 1", "Bruno und Ich 1", "Ambaraba 1", "Lola y Leo 1" textbooks were analyzed comparatively in terms of form, content, basic language competencies, vocabulary and vocabulary acquisition methods and techniques. As a result of the data obtained through document analysis, the textbooks titled "Çocuklar İçin Türkçe 1", "Bruno und Ich 1", "Ambaraba 1" and "Lola y Leo 1" have features suitable for foreign students aged 6-9 in terms of formal features, when evaluated in terms of content, different features come to the forefront (different number of instructions, different sentence lengths, etc.), when analyzed in terms of topics and themes, there are common topics and themes as well as different themes and topics, there are similarities and differences in terms of visual use in the textbooks, the vocabulary acquisition methods and techniques used in each book. While speaking and listening skills were at the forefront in "Çocuklar İçin Türkçe 1", "Bruno und Ich 1", "Ambaraba 1" and "Lola y Leo 1" textbooks, it was stated that there were no activities related to writing skills in "Çocuklar İçin Türkçe 1" and "Bruno und Ich 1" textbooks. In "Ambaraba 1" and "Lola y Leo 1" textbooks, it was stated that writing activities were given less importance than listening and speaking activities, and in all four resources examined in the study, activities aiming to develop reading skills were mostly prepared on visual reading.
