The main objective of this thesis, 6. secondary grade social studies program "Life In The World" unit, determine the level of detection of the geographical concepts students and they have to identify misconceptions. But the main objective study this concept is to provide recommendations for the elimination of misconceptions.However, teachers of social studies,students to understand the concepts of life ın the world competencies geographical unit and the alsoaimed to reveal whether they are aware of misconceptions. The researchused in this study in the academic year 2012-2013, the province of Bayburt differ in terms of socio-economic levels of the 4 secondary school165 6 grader and was conducted with 15 social studies teachers in the province of. The research is comrised of five parts. In the I. Part introduction and the problems of the study, in the II. Part theoretical basis of the study and related studies, in the III. Part the method of the study, in the IV. Part finding and comment, in the V. Part results, discussion andsuggestions are prepared.
