6. grade social studies culture and heritage the impact of story telling method on academic achievement in the field of learning

In order to make learning productive one maintain its permanence, a great deal of various learning and teaching styles( methots) have been built up. As in the other subjects, in social sciences only a method shouldn't be used, different methods should be used. As a guide, the teacher must know that everyone can learn when they have opportunrty. First of all, it is important to choose the best method while the learning environment is organized. In this research, the effect of Story Telling Method on the academic achievements of the students has been searched. The research's aim is whether using story telling method is effective on teaching the learning area 6 grade, Culture and heritage or not. An experimental method was used in the research. In 2018-2019 Academic year in Fatih Secandary Scholl, Sorgun, Yozgat, an experimend and a control group were built up whose students were chosen randomly and each group comprised of 56 students . The research lasted for 21 hours,7 weeks. A multiple choice exam was developed by the researcher so that academic achievements of the students after and before the experiment and control groups had pretest and after application, they had final test. The results were analyzed by using spss for windows 25.0 pocket programme. The findings were analyzed by using Mann Whitney U test and Wilcoxon marked desks tests. The findings showed that Story Telling Method had very important effect on the pretest and final test marks of the experiment group. Consequently, it was seen that Story Telling Method had possitive effect on academic achievement in Social Sciences and the learning area of Culture and heritage.
