Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine the relationship between successful aging, life satisfaction, physical activity and socıodemographic data in Ankara. This cross-sectional study included 396 participants of age 60 and older, who applied at Family Health Center No 2 in Beypazarı between February 21st and April 15th. More than the half of participants (52.8 %) were women and the mean age was 68,7±8,6 years. The mean score of the Struggling with problems scale, a Successful Aging Scale SAS subdimension was found to be 36,93±7,36. The mean of Healthy lifestyle scale subdimension was 16,97±2,88. The average of the total SAS score for the participants of our research was 53,91±9,62. The mean Life Satisfaction scale of the participants was found to be 9,33±4,51. Score of the daily life activities scale was calculated and the mean was 6,19±2,06. Our study observed a positive, statistically significant and moderately strong relationship between Successful Aging Scale and Life Satisfaction Scale scores (r=0,553; p<0,001). A positive, statistically significant and moderately strong relationship was also found between Successful Aging Scale and Daily life activities scale (r=0,428; p<0,001). Encouraging older people to achieve successful aging and providing consultancy services to increase their life satisfaction is important in terms of preentive medicine, knowing its contribution to preserve the cognitive functions of elderly people and the reduction of hospitalization.
