Abstract (EN)

The phenomenon of violence against women is a social problem that has been ongoing from the past to the present, causing emotional, physical, social, cognitive, economic, and other negative consequences for the women who are exposed to it. National and international legal regulations have been developed to prevent this social problem and minimize the negative effects that arise. It is known that the steps taken under Law No. 6284 on the Protection of Family and the Prevention of Violence Against Women in our country aim to prevent the violence women are exposed to and to empower women. In this context, this study aim to evaluate the lives and future expectations of women subjected to protective and preventive measures under the law, within the framework of the empowerment approach, to protect their well-being. Through this evaluation, it is intended to assess the functionality of these measures aimed at empowering women and to develop recommendations within the framework of the empowerment approach. In this study, a literature review was conducted on violence against women, protective and preventive measures within the scope of Law No. 6284 and empowerment approach in social service theories. The research group consists of women victims of violence who live in Rize province and receive services from Rize Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services. The women participating in the research were interviewed with qualitative research method. In the data collection phase, while highlighting their experiences regarding the protective and preventive practices they benefit from, in-depth interview techniques were used to understand the impact of these practices on empowerment. The data obtained within the scope of this research reveals a perspective from women's point of view in the fight against violence against women. In this regard, it is tought that it will contribute to guiding practices aimed at empowering women and to social policies specific to the issue.
