Abstract (EN)

Energy is an important factor in raising the standard of living. Energy needing is growing day by day together with widespread of technology. Energy consumption in Turkey is growing very fast and 75% of the energy demand is come from the outside. This situation is becoming a major problem for growth. The ratio of energy import through the overall import is about 22,4% and the total bill of energy of Turkey is about 54 billion USD. Therefore, it is needed to increase the use of renewable energy sources for reducing of the external dependency of Turkey. Wind energy, bio-energy, geothermal energy, solar energy and hydraulic energy are among the alternative energy sources. Among all renewable energy resources, the use of hydroelectric energy is a major advantage in terms of low cost energy production and he greater hydraulic potential in our country. In this thesis study, giving the design algorithm of the characteristic dimensions, which may be assumed as the starter values for an as-built project, of Pelton turbines that there is not any existing domestic design or production, is aimed. The algorithm is supported with a case study. Moreover, the energy status of Turkey, general structure of hydroelectric plants, the energy production with Small Hydroelectric Power Plants, which have increasing importance recently and general descriptions of hydro turbines are also included place.
